Boulder's Farmer's Market

Saturday morning Brad, Hannah, Kirk and I went to breakfast at Dot's Diner, a Boulder favorite. For the first time we were able to sit and get to know our new friends and hear a little of their story. Kirk headed off to work on his sermon and Brad, Hannah and I headed off to the Farmer's Market. There is a new couple in our church and her school had a booth at the Farmer's Market she invited us to come see. It involved bees and honey. Chrissy teaches at Gold Hill School (an old 2 room school house). The kids in her school, as a project, became bee keepers and harvested (I guess that is what you would call it) honey.

When we got there the honey that was for sale had all been sold, but there was plenty of honey to sample and a ton of bees to be seen. The funny part is that the school's bees were all contained. The bees we were seeing were bees who came to check out the booth. It started with one bee and he went to get all his other bee friends. Some of the neighboring vendors weren't too excited about the bees, but what could you do? They weren't invited, but they were there to stay. We learned however, that they were not in "aggressive" mode as they just wanted honey. So as they served you honey on a spoon you had bees wanting to sample with you. I have to admit it was a little overwhelming.

The Farmer's Market is the place to be on Saturday mornings. You have an array of food vendors as well as the local farmers selling their goods. It is also set up right outside The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse (http://www.boulderteahouse.com/). So after touring the market we decided to grab some tea and for the next hour or two just sat and talked.

Brad and Hannah headed off to the mountains, Kirk was still working on his sermon, and I headed off to run errands. We met up later for dinner at the Gondolier on Pearl to eat some great tapas meals and drink the best sangria you have ever had!! It was a great way to spend our Saturday.
