Ginger-Hoisin Glaze Steak

I love a good steak but I rarely fix them. One reason is we don't have a grill right now. My favorite steak is a filet mignon because it is so tender. Well I ran across a recipe in my favorite magazine, you know the one, in their March 2011 issue. Tonight I wanted to celebrate my first day on my new part time job and this seemed to be just the special dinner to fix. I served the steaks with baked potatoes and herb peas. IT WAS AMAZING! This is definitely a keeper and so easy to fix for a special dinner and the best part is you don't need a grill to do it.

Broiled Tenderloin Steaks With Ginger-Hoisin Glaze

Ingredients
1 1/2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons honey
1 1/2 teaspoons lower-sodium soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon chili garlic sauce or crushed red pepper
4 (4 ounce) beef tenderloin steaks, trimmed (1 inch thick)
Cooking spray
1/8 teaspoon salt

Preparation
1. Preheat broiler to high.
2. Combine hoisin sauce, ginger, honey, soy sauce, and chili garlic sauce in a small bowl; stir with a whisk.
3. Place the steaks on a foil-lined broiler pan coated with cooking spray; sprinkle with salt (and pepper if you like). Broil steaks 5 inches from heat for 2 minutes, and turn over. Broil 2 minutes; turn steaks over. Brush steaks with half of hoisin mixture; broil for 1 minute. Turn steaks over, and brush with remaining hoisin mixture; broil 2 minutes or until desired degree of doneness.

Note, I purchased 2 tenderloin steaks and cut them in half as they were about two inches thick. If you happen to have a local butcher he could cut them to the desired thickness for you.
