Hosanna in the Highest - Palm Sunday

We attended Church of The Resurrection, an Anglican Church in Wheaton on Sunday. When we arrived yesterday we were handed palm branches along with our Worship Guides. We took our seats and then as a congregation we were dismissed outside to form a line on the sidewalks leading into the church. A procession started at the bottom of the hill with the priests and choir. As blankets were laid on the ground, we were greeted with the smell of incense and singing:

Who will ascend God's holy mountain?
Who will abide in His presence?
He who is clean and is pure in heart,
Who does not lift up his soul to any idol,
Or speak what is false.

So lift up your heads, O you gates,
Lift up your heads, you ancient doors,
Lift up your heads
That the King of Glory may come in,
That the King of Glory may come in.

He will receive blessing from the Lord
And vindication from God.
And he will be of a generation
Who seeks the Lord, who seeks His face,
The God of Jacob,
Who seeks his face, the God of all.

So lift up your heads, O you gates,
Lift up your heads, you ancient doors,
Lift up your heads
That the King of Glory may come in,
That the King of Glory may come in.

The palm branches were waiving and as the procession passed the congregation fell in behind. As we settled into the sanctuary we continued to sing as the palm branches continued to waive along with banners. It truly was a celebration! As special as this time was I know it did not compare to that day when Jesus road into Jerusalem.

I have the palm branches in a vase on our dining room table. My heart is filled with amazing love for my Savior.
