Vail and Good Friends

If you keep up with my blog you may remember that our friends Shayne and Carrie from Decatur, GA have come out for the past several years to spend a long weekend with us and ski. The past two years we have gone to Winter Park and stayed in a great cabin that is cozy and fun. This year we had the opportunity to go to Vail! Our friends, Sam and Leanne, who live in Denver have a friend who owns a condo in Vail that he let us use. We have never stayed in Vail so it was a treat for us as well as Shayne and Carrie.

Shayne and Carrie arrived in Denver last Thursday, Carrie's 40th birthday. It was so fun to celebrate her big day with her. She even got carded at the Mexican restaurant we stopped at for lunch! We arrived at the condo and settled in. We decided to go out for Carrie's birthday dinner on Friday night since Georgia is two hours ahead of us and Shayne and Carrie were starting to feel the time difference as well as the altitude. So I made a big pot of soup and we hung out and caught up.
This is the only picture I got of the condo. This is Sam and Leanne.
On Friday Kirk, Shayne and Sam headed for the slopes (Carrie, Leanne and I stayed in the condo by the fire). Friday night we headed to Vail village for a steak dinner at the Ore House. Vail village is beautiful and fun place to walk around.
The Ore House. This restaurant is special to Kirk and I as we ate at the Ore House in Santa Fe, NM the night we were married.
Group picture - me, Kirk, Shayne, Sam, Leanne and Carrie. We were also celebrating Leanne's birthday which was on Saturday.
The village.

We headed back to Boulder on Saturday. Shayne and Carrie wanted to go back to the Rib House for dinner. This is a great little restaurant in Longmont that serves Kansas City style ribs. They are, by far, the best ribs I have ever eaten.

On Sunday, Shayne preached for Kirk. By now our community is also getting used to Shayne and Carrie coming out and Shayne preaching.

I always look forward to their visit and sad when they leave. We love these two dearly and have decided this year that we will go to them in June! They have access to a lake house. Can't wait!
