Wedding

I am sitting here in front of the fire (yes, you read that right) enjoying a day off with Kirk. The weather is rainy and in the mid to upper 50's. A perfect day to relax, read, take a nap and add a blog post.

However, a couple of weeks ago today it was in the upper 90's....HOT and we were participating in the wedding festivities of some friends of ours here in Boulder, Dave and Lauren. We met Dave and Lauren two months after we moved to Boulder. Kirk and I went to hear a band, Newcomers Home, play on the eve of New Year's Eve. We were in the back of the venue and started talking to this guy, Dave, who was standing by himself. We learned he was waiting on his girlfriend, Lauren, and her friend, Sandy. The ladies arrived and the show started. In between songs and at the break we talked more. We shared why we had moved to Boulder and they shared a little about themselves. Lauren taught skiing and I ended up taking skiing lessons from her (she was a great teacher, I was a mediocre student).

When Dave and Lauren got engaged they asked Kirk if he would marry them, what an honor! So on August 2 at 10:30 in the morning outside on the lawn of Chautauqua Park with an amazing view of the Flat Irons behind them they were married. We wish them the best on the their new life together and look forward to being a part of their lives for many years to come.

Dave and Lauren's first date was kayaking, a sport they both love. What a cute cake!
